Urals Electronic Customs is ready for the influx of declarations for radioactive and fissile materials

The Urals Electronic Customs House held a meeting with representatives of the State Corporation «Rosatom».
In the near future an order of the Russian Ministry of Finance will come into force, which will leave the right of customs control of fissile and radioactive materials to two electronic declaration centers: in Ekaterinburg and Moscow.
The Ural Electronic Customs Office is ready for the new working conditions: since February 2021, it has been processing such goods on an experimental basis. The time of release of radioactive and fissile materials, even taking into account the actual control, does not exceed 8 hours.
«We realize that the declaration array of fissile and radioactive materials will increase at least twofold. Therefore, we prepared in advance: today 2/3 of inspectors of the electronic declaration center have already been trained to release such goods, another 18 people will be trained in 2024. Efficient, high-quality and prompt customs control – is the priority of our activity» – said the Head of the Ural Electronic Customs Sergey Epifanov.
Representatives of Rosatom» highly appreciated the work of the Urals customs officers and thanked them for effective cooperation in carrying out customs operations with nuclear materials transported across the customs border of the EAEU under sanctions pressure.
