Krasnodar Customs Officers Discover 3 Million Rubles in a Passenger Car from Abkhazia
Customs officers at Krasnodar Customs discovered a large sum of cash in the armrest of a Lexus car that arrived from Abkhazia. The vehicle was stopped by customs officers at the Adler checkpoint. During an oral interview, the driver, a citizen of Abkhazia, stated that he did not have any goods that needed to be declared. However, cash in the amount of 3 million rubles was hidden in a black plastic bag between the front seats. The cash was confiscated. Investigative measures are being carried out to determine whether the driver will be held responsible.
The Federal Customs Service of Russia reminds that cash in excess of the equivalent of 10,000 dollars must be declared in writing when crossing the customs border of the EAEU. Written customs declaration of cash does not entail the imposition of any duties or taxes on the specified amount.
