In late 2023, a Yugra merchant planned to illegally export to Uzbekistan for sale more than 90 cubic meters of timber harvested in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. However, the vehicles with the goods were intercepted by customs operatives at the border with Kazakhstan in the Kurgan region

The businessman offered the officer an illegal financial reward of 150 thousand rubles, thanks to which he hoped to avoid inspection and initiation of criminal proceedings. The employee contacted the anti-corruption department of the Tyumen Customs with a notification about the fact that he had been approached with a view to inducing him to commit a corruption offense

The bribe-giver was detained by officers of the Tyumen Customs Anti-Corruption Department while handing over the money.
