Smolensk customs officers uncovered an illegal shipment of food products with concealment

A mobile group of Smolensk customs stopped the illegal import of more than 2.8 tons of animal products imported from Belarus to Russia with concealment without shipping documents and a veterinary certificate
Customs officers stopped the car with the cargo in Rudnyansky district of Smolensk region. During the inspection of the cargo compartment, customs officers found boxes with suluguni and Roquefort cheese, herring fillets, milk and crab sticks among the woolen socks, bed linen and used wheels declared in the documents. According to the markings on the packages, the country of origin is Belarus. The total weight was 2.8 tons.

“The products were transported without the necessary veterinary and other accompanying documents that would allow to confirm the guarantee of their quality and safety. The transportation was carried out with a violation of the temperature regime, in a vehicle not designed for transportation of food products. To carry out additional checks, we handed over the cargo to specialists from the Rosselkhoznadzor Department for the Bryansk, Smolensk and Kaluga regions,” said Rustam Yakubov, head of Smolensk customs
