“I don’t know what’s in this bag, just asked me to pass it along.” This phrase is often the beginning of a conversation with customs officers. This is what happened to a 37-year-old resident of Tajikistan when Koltsovo airport inspectors found 19 kilograms of undeclared women’s stoles and scarves in his luggage. All the items were new, with “Made in India” stickers, different colors, styles, the total number of goods – 93 units
It was found that this batch is valued at 45 thousand rubles and is not a product for personal use, but is intended for commercial purposes
A case was initiated against the passenger under Article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Non-declaration or inaccurate declaration of goods”. A court was held, the man was found guilty of committing an administrative offense, and a penalty was imposed – confiscation of goods
“For an attempt to pass customs officers without a declaration, a fine of one to two times the value of the goods with possible confiscation. If you do not want to become a figure of administrative or criminal case, do not accept goods or items of dubious origin from strangers, refuse those who ask you to transport something. This is for your own safety. A single iPhone, or liters of alcohol, or even a seemingly innocuous box of souvenirs can bring you to court,” said Sergey Borovik, head of the customs post at Koltsovo Airport (passenger)
