Tyumen customs officers secured payment of half a million rubles for the scrappage fee
As a result of an inspection, Tyumen customs officers found that a resident of Kurgan had imported three Toyota Land Cruizer 300 SUVs into Russia from Kazakhstan over several months. At the same time, in his application for payment of the utilization fee he indicated the coefficient that is applied when imported by an individual for personal use. A few weeks after crossing the border, the two cars were sold and registered by the new owners.
The Tyumen Customs Office issued a demand to the seller of the vehicles for an additional payment of 512 thousand rubles. The entrepreneur did not agree with the customs officers’ decision. However, the court held the citizen liable for incomplete payment of the utilization fee. The man imported vehicles «for personal use» and sold them and earned money. The utilization fee due from the debtor has already been paid to the federal budget;
«This is the first court decision on such cases in the practice of Tyumen Customs. At the moment we have completed a number of inspections and identified 14 debtors who have not paid about 45 million rubles of utilization fee and penalties to the budget. They have been sent notices on the necessity of payment,” said Vladimir Zyabko, Head of Tyumen Customs.
