Sakhalin customs officers found more than 500 kg of frozen seafood in a stash on a ship in Nevelsk

sakhalin customs officers and border guards found 523 kilograms of frozen seafood during the inspection of a vessel arriving in the port of Nevelsk from the exclusive economic zone.
A transport refrigerator delivering ship supplies and aquatic biological resources arrived from the exclusive economic zone to the port of Nevelsk. During the inspection customs and border service officers found more than 1.5 tons of undeclared ship supplies in the hold. Also in the ship’s refotional compartment in the echo sounder shaft, covered with rubber mats, a cache with bags of frozen sea fishing products (trubach, shrimp, octopus) with a total weight of 523 kg was found.
Part of the goods (270 kg) belonged to the vessel’s sailor, the crew of the vessel did not claim rights to the rest of the products. Sakhalin Customs initiated 2 cases on administrative offenses on the facts of concealment of goods from customs control through the use of hiding places or other ways that hinder the detection of goods (part 2 of article 16.1 of the CAO RF) in relation to a member of the ship’s crew and in relation to an unidentified person.
Also 2 administrative cases were initiated against unidentified persons on the facts of non-declaration of goods and provision to the customs authority of false information about ship supplies (Freon in cylinders over 1 ton, ship spare parts and equipment – 516 kg).
The undeclared goods were arrested and placed in custody. An investigation is underway.
