Sakhalin customs officers processed 3,956 imported cars in 2023. That’s 215 more cars than in 2022.

With the exception of a few cars imported from the Republic of Korea and China, all vehicles were imported from Japan.

– The imposed sanctions did not affect consumer demand,” said Alexei Antonov, head of the Korsakov customs post of Sakhalin Customs. – After the sanctions were imposed, only the nomenclature of goods changed towards more budget models. The biggest impact on the demand is caused by changes in the exchange rate

For ordinary citizens who import cars for personal use not more than once a year, the utilization fee has not changed and has not had a significant impact on demand

Customs clearance of cars takes no more than 4 hours if all documents are in order and no additional checks are required

The passenger customs declaration can be submitted both directly by car owners and by customs representatives. The electronic submission of a passenger customs declaration can help speed up the customs clearance procedure.
