Clothes, shoes and perfume: Urals customs officers detect more counterfeit goods
For 11 months of 2023, customs officers of the Urals region revealed more than 29 thousand units of counterfeit goods, which is almost 8 thousand (or 36%) more than for the whole of last year.
Among the illegal goods, the leaders are clothing and footwear, phone accessories, and perfumes. Customs authorities of the region initiated 16 cases on AP under article 14.10 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (illegal use of means of individualization of goods, works, services).
«Most of all counterfeit goods were detected by Chelyabinsk customs – over 14 thousand goods, Tyumen customs detained over 9 thousand illegal products, and Ekaterinburg customs – almost 5900 «counterfeits». The largest batch of counterfeit, weighing 19 tons, was detected by mobile groups of Chelyabinsk customs. The inspectors found in the truck, which was traveling from Kazakhstan to the Moscow region almost 11 thousand tracksuits with obvious signs of counterfeiting and without mandatory marking means of identification», – noted the head of the Ural Customs Department Alexei Frolov.
Transportation and sale of counterfeit goods is carried out without documents confirming their safety, and in fact they can be manufactured without observing technologies. In addition, such products cause significant damage to the economy, as no taxes are paid on their sale, but due to their low price they force bona fide manufacturers out of the market.
