“Transferred” the border to the Urals: Ekaterinburg customs officers inspected the first shipment of goods from the Russian-Chinese border

Ekaterinburg Customs was among the first to implement an experiment to optimize and shorten the control period at railway checkpoints. In order not to create queues for control at the checkpoint itself, it was decided to take the arriving goods inland for customs control closer to the cargo destinations.
«Improvement and acceleration of customs control – the main priority of our work. Therefore, the FCS of Russia has decided to conduct an experiment: goods arriving at railway checkpoints are placed under the customs transit procedure. The necessary procedures are already being carried out at the delivery points. Thus, the queue at the border is reduced and the number of tasks of the country’s customs authorities is evenly distributed. This means that the load on the border infrastructure will be reduced and the time of customs control will be shortened,” said Alexey Frolov, Head of the Urals Customs Department.
Employees of the Verkh-Isetsk customs post inspected a batch of wheels on disks, which arrived in 4 containers. The weight of goods in each container is 27 tons, the number of about 3.5 thousand pieces. The cargo arrived from China through the railway checkpoint Zabaikalsk Chita customs. After customs control goods will go to the destination – in the city of Perm in the company engaged in the manufacture, completion and sale of equipment and tools.
Meanwhile, the next cargo is already on its way to Ekaterinburg – 2 containers with various goods weighing about 85 tons. If the experiment of transferring customs procedures proves to be effective, this format of customs control may become the main form for goods arriving through railroad checkpoints.
