The Taganrog customs officers have stopped attempt of export of large amounts of cash

Officials of the customs post MAPP Kujbyshevo Taganrog customs have stopped attempt of export from the customs territory of the Eurasian economic Union large sums of undeclared cash.

16 APR 2020 citizen of Russia, driving a cargo van FORD TRANZIT, arrived at the multilateral automobile checkpoint Kujbyshevo with the purpose of leaving the territory of the Russian Federation. In terms of the number of currency units amounted to 1 million 500 thousand rubles.

It was decided to send the vehicle for inspection with use of inspection complexes (IDC), the results of which revealed a possible violation of the customs legislation of the EEU, and then the vehicle was sent to the customs inspection. During the customs inspection in the pockets knitted sweatshirts and winter jackets in a cardboard box, and various plastic bags, the customs officers found banknotes face value from 50 to 5000 rubles, and metal coins are in denominations of 25 rubles. The total amount of banknotes of the Russian Federation and coins amounted to 4 million 16 525 thousand rubles.

An examination on the grounds of technological, printing and physicochemical protection has recognized the monetary banknote is genuine. The total amount at the time of detection relative to the U.S. dollar amounted to 54 thousand 487 USD.

According to the customs legislation of the EEU at the one-time movement of cash and (or) traveller’s cheques for a total amount equal to or exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand US dollars at the exchange rate prevailing on the day of submission to the customs authority passenger customs Declaration, the specified money and (or) travel checks are subject to customs Declaration.

On this fact the investigator of the Taganrog customs initiated a criminal case under part 2 of article 200.1 of the criminal code (smuggling of cash in especially large size). The investigation is being conducted.
