Three residents of the Stavropol territory will appear before court for smuggling potent substances

Employees of Department on struggle against smuggling of drugs Mineralovodsky customs in the first half of 2020 was detained and seized more than 600 products containing potent substance.

During carrying out complex quickly-search actions it was revealed three international mail drugs for weight loss. The packages arrived in the Stavropol territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Their content was directed on examination by results of which established that the products contain sibutramine – a potent substance, illicit trafficking and importation into the territory of the Russian Federation.

According to the facts Mineralovodsky customs office opened three criminal cases under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code (smuggling of drugs). Sanctions of article provides imprisonment for the term from three till seven years with a fine of up to one million rubles. Criminal cases sent to the investigative bodies of the MIA of Russia in the jurisdiction. The investigation continues, – said the acting Deputy chief of Mineralovodsky customs Anatoly Redkin.

Background: sibutramine is a potent stimulant of the Central nervous system and intensifies the feeling of satiety. After the use of means for correction of weight that contains sibutramine, causes such side effects as anorexia, insomnia, headache, dry mouth, problem with digestion. Also the drug is strictly prohibited for people with cardiovascular disease.
