The work of the customs authorities of Russia and Iran was discussed at a business seminar
Representatives of the North-West Customs Administration took part in the business seminar «Doing business with Iran» organized by the Leningrad Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Customs authorities traditionally perform the functions of fiscal, law enforcement and controlling authority and at the same time promote the development of foreign economic activity.
Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Revenue Service – Head of the Trade Restrictions and Export Control Department of the North-West Customs Administration Ekaterina Ladynina told the participants of the business meeting about the peculiarities of the movement of goods across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union and the work of the customs authorities of the Russian Federation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
– Cooperation between the FCS of Russia and the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran is actively developing. A pilot project «Simplified customs corridor» is being implemented, which is designed to expand the advantages of companies with the status of authorized economic operator, as well as to stimulate secure supply chains between companies of high level of trust on the part of the customs authorities of Russia and Iran, – noted Ekaterina Ladynina.
Iran, in accordance with the EAEU legislation, is included in the list of countries to which the free trade regime applies. This has a positive impact on the strengthening of foreign economic relations between the two countries.
Preferential treatment (control of the country of origin) has been granted to Iranian goods within the framework of the Interim Agreement leading to the formation of a free trade zone between the EAEU member states and Iran.
The agreement stipulates that each party should gradually reduce and/or eliminate customs duties on goods originating from the territory of the other party in accordance with its List of Tariff Commitments. It includes different categories of goods, such as vegetables, fruits and others.
Among other speakers – Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Honorary Representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation in the Islamic Republic of Iran, who spoke about the current state and prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Iran. Participants of foreign economic activity and representatives of logistics companies received answers from the representative of the NWTU on the topics of customs administration, which are of the greatest interest to the business community.
Reference: the list of goods in respect of which preferential rates of import customs duties are applied in accordance with the Temporary Agreement and the amount of such rates, approved by the Decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission from 22.01.2019 № 10. The size of the rates depends on the code of the goods of the HS of the EAEU (from 0% and above).
