A 33-year-old resident of Kemerovo tried to bring an exotic souvenir from Thailand. She did not know about the existing restrictions on the movement of such goods across the border, the need to obtain authorization documents and their mandatory declaration

The coral was seized and sent for examination, which confirmed that it falls under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)

The cases on administrative offenses under Articles 16.2 (non-declaration of goods) and 16.3 (non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions) of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation have been instituted.
