Customs officers uncovered a large shipment of undeclared spare parts at the port of Rostov-on-Don

In the course of joint control of a motor ship departing from the port of Rostov-on-Don to the port of Karasu (Turkey), officials of the customs post of the River Port of Rostov-on-Don and the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Rostov region found more than 1,000 undeclared spare parts intended for the motor ship. Cases on administrative offenses under article 16.2 part 1 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of goods subject to customs declaration in the prescribed form) were initiated against the carrier and the captain of the motor ship

Oleg Bessarab, head of the customs post of the River Port of Rostov-on-Don Oleg Bessarab explained: “Under Part 1 of Article 16.2 of the CAO RF, officials are liable to a fine from 10,000 to 20,000 rubles, for legal entities – from one second to two times the value of the goods (with or without confiscation). Currently, the goods have been seized and sent for examination to determine the market value.”
