February 28 marks the 24th year the forensic service is a regional branch of the Central forensic customs administration of Nizhny Novgorod.
For research samples of goods sent to the Service experts not only from the Volga, but also from other regions of the Russian Federation. The list of studied objects is vast — starting from food and finishing equipment, oil, metals and alloys. Research exposed a variety of light industry products, goods of chemical and related industries, jewelry and costume jewelry, perfumery and cosmetics, household chemicals and hygiene products, toys, spare parts for vehicles and equipment, Most examinations are conducted in respect of goods sent in international postal items, objects and CITES of goods containing objects of intellectual property (trademarks).
For 2019 forensic service in Nizhny Novgorod performed 2615 expert research papers for customs authorities investigated 231386 specimens. The analysis shows that in 2019 there was an increase in the total number of examinations in comparison with those of 2018 by 25%. Over the past three years there has been a steady increase in the number of appointed examinations, the increase of which is due to examinations during customs control.
Also, according to the results of the forensic service in 2019 1293 cases revealed violations of customs legislation: they opened 392 cases of AP, 14 criminal cases, in 482 cases – refused to release the goods. According to the results of customs examinations in 2019, according to information provided by the customs bodies to the Federal budget the additional calculated more than 110 million rubles.
