Kingisepp Customs notes an increase in the number of transshipments of goods moving across the Russian-Estonian border by road transport
For 11 months of 2023 in the region of Kingisepp customs carried out 1939 transshipments in the implementation of the Government of the Russian Federation of September 30, 2022 № 1728 «On measures to implement the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of September 29, 2022 № 681 «On some issues of international road transport of goods ».
One of the retaliatory measures to the ban imposed by the EU countries on the movement of Russian motor vehicles through the territory of the European Union was a ban on international road transportation of goods (except for essential goods) through the territory of the Russian Federation by foreign motor vehicles, established by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated September 30, 2022 No. 1728.
Due to the exclusion from this Decree from June 30, 2023 of transshipment places located in St. Petersburg, there was a change in logistic routes of goods transportation by road transport. Foreign road carriers that previously transloaded goods in St. Petersburg reoriented to transloading in the customs control zone of the Yamburg customs post of the Kingisepp customs office.
In the second half of 2023, there was an increase in the number of transshipments of goods carried out in the customs control zone of the Yamburg customs post.
In the first 11 months of 2023, a total of 1,939 international transportation vehicles registered in countries that have imposed sanctions on the transportation of goods by Russian road carriers were reloaded in the region of the Yamburg customs post. Of these, 1,396 vehicles were traveling from European countries, and 534 were exporting goods from the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Kingisepp Customs notes that due to the closure by Finland of automobile checkpoints on the Russian-Finnish border in December 2023, the tendency to increase the number of transshipments of goods in the customs control zone of the Yamburg customs post of Kingisepp Customs continues.
