Chelyabinsk Customs brought an exporter of “waste paper” to administrative responsibility

Chelyabinsk Customs has brought the first case of administrative offense against an exporter of printed materials containing personal data.
As previously reported, the drivers of the vehicles were trying to export bags filled with paper waste. During customs inspection, inspectors found copies of documents, including those containing personal data.
According to the expertise, the cargo submitted for examination is printed matter (paper originals and copies of various documents), not subjected to mechanical shredding (shredding). At present, a case on administrative responsibility under part 3 of article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation has been initiated.
«In order to avoid similar situations and the prospect of bringing to responsibility and confiscation of goods, exporters should be attentive to the cargo being moved in order to comply with the established requirements of the legislation» – comments the head of Chelyabinsk customs Mikhail Ponomarev.
BACKGROUND
Documents containing personal data, marked «For official use» as well as containing information of limited access, must be destroyed in the state body, local government, organization by mechanical shredding (shredding) or other method that excludes the possibility of restoring the content of documents.
