irkutsk customs officers found 40 kg of manicure tools in the luggage of air passengers from Hanoi

During the customs control of a flight from Vietnam, Irkutsk Airport customs officers detected a commercial shipment of tools and consumables for a nail salon, which was attempted to be imported without mandatory declaration.
Tweezers, scissors, nail polish, drying lamps and other accessories for manicure and pedicure tried to smuggle two passengers who arrived on the flight «Hanoi-Irkutsk». At the same time, the men chose the «green corridor» to pass customs control, declaring that there were no goods subject to declaration.
Air passengers explained that they were taking all the equipment for their acquaintance, who owns a nail salon. The goods were seized and sent for examination to determine their value.
Irkutsk customs initiated 2 cases of administrative offense under part 1 of article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of goods).
It should be noted that since the beginning of 2023 the officials of the customs post of Irkutsk Airport have initiated 982 cases of administrative offenses committed by air passengers. Of these, 16 cases were related to the fact that individuals moved commercial shipments, i.e. goods not for personal use, without declaring them. The judicial authorities took decisions to impose punishment in the form of an administrative fine and confiscation of items offenses in the amount of more than 700 thousand rubles.
