Customs officers detained a female passenger with a potent substance at Orenburg airport

At the international airport of the city of Orenburg, a passenger, who flew in from the near abroad, tried to transport 27 capsules containing the potent substance «sibutramine» across the EAEU customs border.
During customs control customs officers found 5 blisters of the drug FATZORB in a metal box in the girl’s luggage.
The examination established that tablets contain the substance «sibutramine», which is included in the List of potent substances, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation on December 29, 2007 № 964.
«In order to carry medicines containing potent, narcotic and psychotropic substances, it is necessary to fill in a passenger customs declaration and have the relevant medical documents confirming the validity of the movement of drugs and their use for medical purposes. In this case, the passenger did not have such documents, and she did not fill in the declaration,” says Alexey Kashtanov, Head of the Customs Post of Orenburg Airport.
The materials have been transferred to law enforcement agencies under investigation. The question on initiation of criminal proceedings under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of potent substances) is under consideration.
