Smolensk customs officers stopped the transportation of an illegal shipment of meat products

A mobile group of Smolensk customs stopped the illegal import of 500 kg of meat products. The goods were imported from Belarus to Russia with concealment without shipping documents and a veterinary certificate. 

Customs officers stopped the car with the cargo on the federal highway “M-1 Belarus” in Krasninsky district of Smolensk region. According to the accompanying documents from Minsk to Moscow, the car was carrying valves regulating passageways, electric actuators, power supplies, electric actuators, boards, repair kits, with a total weight of 3.5 tons

In the course of inspection of the cargo compartment of the car among the goods declared in the documents, the customs officers found 50 cardboard boxes with meat products. There were no documents for the goods, the marking was mechanically removed, so the country of origin could not be established. The total mass amounted to 500 kg

Meat products were transported without the necessary veterinary and other accompanying documents that would allow to trace their origin, confirm the guarantees of their quality and safety. Transportation was carried out with violation of temperature regime and sanitary norms in a car not designed for its transportation. For additional checks, we handed over this cargo to specialists of the Rosselkhoznadzor Department for Bryansk, Smolensk and Kaluga regions,” – said the head of Smolensk customs Rustam Yakubov
