Smolensk customs officers detained a truck with illegal cigarettes

A mobile group of Smolensk customs has stopped the importation of 273,000 packs of Belarusian-made cigarettes without special excise stamps into Russia. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the consignment exceeds 35 million rubles

The truck, carrying Belarusian cigarettes, was stopped near the village of Novye Bateki, Smolensk district, Smolensk region

“During the inspection, customs officers found 273 thousand packs of cigarettes of Belarusian origin without excise stamps of the Russian Federation and twenty-five items. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of illegally imported tobacco products is 35.2 million rubles,” – said the head of Smolensk customs Rustam Yakubov

The transportation of unmarked tobacco products subject to marking with special excise stamps is criminally liable under Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The materials have been transferred to the police for further verification in accordance with the current legislation
