Baltic customs officers detained counterfeit Adidas shoes and cloth Burberry
Prevented potential damage to the copyright holders more than $ 11 million.
In the Baltic customs continues to work to prevent importation of counterfeit goods at all stages of control.
So, on the Baltic customs post (CED) in January 2020 Declaration has been lodged for the goods import on the territory of Russia of goods from China for kids – bags, backpacks, sunglasses, toys including children’s shoes. Thus information about the presence of any trademarks on the goods was not declared. In the framework of the customs inspection it was found that for product “footwear soles of rubber or plastics with uppers of textile materials” present designation similar to the point of confusion with the trademarks owned by the company “Adidas AG”. Total found 2400 units of goods with signs of counterfeit. On this fact criminal case on an administrative offense under part 1 of article 14.10 of the Russian code of administrative offences (illegal use of trademark). According to the right holder caused by the potential losses amounted to 10 952 088 roubles.
The second case of the counterfeit is revealed by the Baltic customs, in February 2020. A large consignment arrived by sea from China to the address of the consignee in Moscow and was at the customs post Harbour Baltic customs. As a result of the customs search revealed the goods “fabrics, knitted, machine-knitted printed” with the applied pattern, similar to the point of confusion with the visual trademark of “Burberry” (intersecting strips that form the cell), the so – called “famous cage “Burberry”. Just revealed 5167 m2 counterfeit tissue (31 rolls). On this fact the Baltic customs also instituted administrative proceedings under part 1 of article 14.10 of the administrative code.
Baltic customs reminds: for illegal use of the trademark legislation provides for administrative liability in the form of imposing a fine and confiscation of the infringing goods to be destroyed.
Reference: the Baltic customs for 2019 identified 497 thousand units of counterfeit goods, the amount of avoided damage to copyright holders amounted to 116,8 million. Basically were detected counterfeits of products such as cases for glasses, perfume bottles, watches.
