Smolensk customs officers have detained a convoy of vehicles with prohibited goods

Four vehicles were detained by employees of Smolensk customs in the village Suyetovo Yartsevo district of Smolensk region in the night of 26 June 2020.

More than 20 tons of Ukrainian dried rose hips, according to the label, were hiding behind a row of charcoal. About 20 tons of Polish fresh blackberries – under the guise of corn sticks, and nearly 18 tons of Polish leeks and 17 tons of Polish apples were transported as potato snacks. However, none of the drivers is not presented to the customs documents for the cargo.

As a result, the vehicles were detained and placed to the Parking lot to ascertain all the circumstances.

“These goods are prohibited for import in accordance with applicable law. To establish the data necessary for initiating proceedings, the customs officers was taken, the results of which in respect of carriers Smolensk customs initiated proceedings on an administrative offense under article 16.3 of the administrative code (violation of the prohibitions and restrictions when goods are imported), is under investigation. This article provides punishment in the form of a fine in the amount from 50 to 300 thousand rubles”, – said acting chief of the customs control after release of goods of the Smolensk customs Marianne Rostopchina.
