The detection of 100 pills prohibited for free importation in the international mail parcel was helped by a customs service dog named Phil. The container of steroids was placed in a popular vitamin jar by the sender of the Internet order in order to conceal it from customs control

A later expert examination confirmed that the tablets contained potent substances, the importation of which into the Russian Federation is allowed only in the presence of medical documents indicating the name and quantity of the drug prescribed to the individual

Irkutsk Customs initiated a criminal case under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for a penalty of deprivation of liberty for a term of three to seven years with a possible fine of up to one million rubles

“The young man, in order to improve his sports performance, attempted to illegally import steroids containing potent substances prohibited in the Russian Federation,” said Evgeny Mikhnevich, deputy head of Irkutsk customs. – Such actions, in addition to the potential harm to health, can lead the recipient of such drugs to criminal liability.”
