Krasnoyarsk customs officers stopped the illegal export of 1.8 million rubles to Harbin

Officers at the Krasnoyarsk Airport customs post of Krasnoyarsk Customs revealed a large amount of undeclared cash from an air passenger flying to China.

The 42-year-old resident of the Novosibirsk region chose the “green corridor” to pass customs control before departure to Harbin (China), than declared that he had no cash or goods subject to customs declaration

But during customs control, the officers found that in his backpack the man was carrying 1.8 million rubles or 19,300 U.S. dollars equivalent at the date of transportation.

Since cash in Russian rubles in an amount exceeding the equivalent of 10,000 U.S. dollars is subject to mandatory written declaration, the amount of illegally transported money amounted to 9,300 U.S. dollars (866,000 rubles)

Krasnoyarsk Customs initiated proceedings against the air passenger on administrative offense under Article 16.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of money by an individual). The man was fined 433,000 rubles, and all other funds were returned to him

In January – March 2024 Krasnoyarsk customs officers revealed 18 facts of non-declaration of cash. The total amount of illegally moved cash amounted to 3.3 million rubles. Most often air passengers tried to illegally export cash to Thailand and Uzbekistan
