13 foreign citizens were brought to administrative responsibility by Buryat Customs for violating the terms of temporary importation of vehicles for personal use since the beginning of 2024.

All vehicles for personal use (TPLP) temporarily imported into Russia were not exported back after the expiration of the time limit set by the customs authority. Buryat Customs initiated cases on administrative offenses under part 1 of article 16.18 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation against the car owners

The work on revealing such cars on the territory of the republic is carried out by customs officers together with the traffic police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Republic of Buryatia

A total of 19,604 vehicles for personal use have been temporarily imported in the region of Buryatia Customs since the beginning of 2024, which is 66.7% more than last year

Ivan Burlaka, acting head of the Buryat Customs, reminded that foreign citizens arriving in the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union on personal vehicles can make a temporary import without payment of customs duties for a period not exceeding 1 year. After the expiration of this period, the vehicles must be exported from the country or released into free circulation. Russian citizens arriving in the EAEU with a foreign car must release it into free circulation or pay security for the vehicle in the amount of customs duties as if the car had been released into free circulation
