Over 100,000 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps were found by customs officers at a warehouse in St. Petersburg

A large consignment of unlabeled tobacco products of foreign origin was discovered during a customs inspection of a warehouse in St. Petersburg. More than 115 thousand packs of cigarettes were seized.

Officers of the North-West Customs Directorate, St. Petersburg Customs and the St. Petersburg Department of Internal Affairs conducted a customs inspection of a warehouse in Nevsky district of the Northern Capital

The inspection revealed 115,870 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps and means of identification. According to the information on the packages, the tobacco products were produced in the UAE, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany and Switzerland

– The unlabeled cigarettes were seized by officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and will be sent for examination, – Pavel Nazarenko, acting deputy head of the St. Petersburg customs, said. – The issue of initiating criminal proceedings under Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (storage and sale of unlabeled tobacco products) is under consideration.
