Altai customs officers revealed 68 thousand bottles of drinking water without mandatory labeling

A mobile team from Altai Customs stopped the importation into Russia of 22.5 tons of non-carbonated drinking water in plastic bottles from Uzbekistan without the necessary labeling.

Customs officers together with officers of the Border Guard Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Altai Territory stopped the car with drinks packed in various plastic containers at the checkpoint “Kulunda”. The consignment of non-carbonated drinking water in the amount of 68 thousand bottles worth about 580 thousand rubles was intended for sale on the domestic market

The goods were detained and handed over to law enforcement authorities for further inspection and procedural decision.

It should be noted that in March 2024, a mobile group of Altai customs has already stopped the import of more than 26 tons of unlabeled carbonated water of well-known brands.

With the help of Data Matrix code it is possible to trace the path of the product from the manufacturer to the counter, and any buyer can make sure of the originality and quality of the product. Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation from 31.05.2021 № 841 determines that the means of identification must be applied to the packaging by the manufacturer or importer before the movement of goods across the state border of the Russian Federation
