Invisible control: Koltsovo airport changes the scheme of customs control

Published: April 27, 2024 11:40 AM

In the departure area of international flights at Koltsovo Airport, the scheme of control is changing. Now, upon entering the international terminal, passengers will go straight to the check-in desks, where an airport employee will clarify whether they need to declare the contents of their luggage. In case of a negative answer, the suitcase will be sent to the baggage department, where it will be checked through X-ray. Customs officers will see the contents and, if in doubt, will invite the passenger to open and inspect the luggage. If the passenger at the check-in counter informs about the intention to declare the luggage, then together with the suitcase will go to the customs officers in the “red corridor” to fill in the passenger customs declaration

From now on, customs control on departure will be invisible to most passengers. This will significantly save time when going through all levels of control. Nevertheless, the customs rules remain the same and you can familiarize yourself with them both in the airport terminal and on the official website of the Federal Customs Service,” said Mikhail Sorokin, First Deputy Head of the Koltsovsky Customs Office named after V.A.
