In the Siberian customs Department is planning to create an expert group on classification of goods

The question of classification of goods is one of the key in the implementation of foreign economic activity. In February 2020, officials of the Siberian customs Directorate (STU) at the Siberian Institute of management – branch of Ranepa was held a webinar on the topic “the Practice and procedure of obtaining and using prior decisions as a tool to minimize the risks traders associated with the false statement, code of goods HS”, which was attended by more than 40 traders. Their interest in the topic of the webinar indicated the need for further advocacy in this area.

Siberian customs Department has been working on the establishment of an expert group on classification of goods, which, in addition to officials of the customs bodies, will include experts from research institutes, higher educational institutions and representatives of certain industries in the Siberian region.

Such a group can be an effective platform for discussion of controversial issues and clarification of terms and definitions that are missing in the notes and explanations of the unified Commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activities of the Eurasian economic Union, but is necessary to ensure uniform classification of goods.

Traders and other interested parties may submit proposals for inclusion in the composition of the expert group on classification of goods STU.
