More than 23 tons of controlled substances seized by customs officials in 2023

In 2023, customs officers independently and in cooperation with law enforcement agencies seized more than 23.7 tons of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their precursors and potent substances from illegal circulation. This is 23.5% more than a year earlier
The seizures included 2,432 kilograms of narcotic drugs, 1,156 kilograms of potent and almost 5 kilograms of psychotropic substances, as well as more than 20 tons of precursors
A total of 1,160 facts of illegal movement were revealed. 322 criminal cases were opened, including 155 under Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors) and 167 under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of potent substances)
