In 2023, customs authorities stopped the illegal movement of precious metals and jewelry worth 1.2 billion rubles. This is 1.5 times more than in 2022, when such goods worth 760 million rubles were detected. Most of the contraband was moved by individuals
The airports of the Moscow air hub account for about 65% of all detected violations. Most often undeclared jewelry was attempted to be imported from the UAE, Turkey, China and Azerbaijan, and exported to China, the United States, Mongolia and Israel
