Officers of the Voronezh customs together with colleagues from the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Voronezh region have identified the organizer of the criminal scheme – a 49-year-old sales director of a large firm engaged in wholesale trade of timber in the Voronezh region. The man illegally shipped 91 cubic meters of pine trees worth more than 2 million rubles to Armenia.

The sales director concluded a foreign economic contract with a foreign entrepreneur for the supply of pine lumber without having documents confirming the legal origin of the goods. Thus, he provided the customs authorities with fictitious documents and made false information in the declarations for goods”,  reported Grigory Shevchenko, deputy head of the Voronezh customs.

The case was brought against the Voronezh customs authorities

A criminal case has been opened against the Voronezh man under Part 1 of Article 226.1 (smuggling of strategically important goods and resources). The man faces imprisonment for up to 5 years and a fine of up to 1 million rubles
