Smolensk customs officers detained illegal cigarettes worth 30 million rubles

The mobile group of Smolensk customs stopped the importation of more than 250 thousand packs of Belarusian-made cigarettes into the territory of Russia without accompanying documents and special excise stamps. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the party is 30 million rubles

The truck carrying cigarettes was detained near the village of Olsha, Smolensk district, Smolensk region

In the course of inspection in the cargo compartment of the car, customs officers found 251.4 thousand packs of cigarettes of Belarusian origin of twenty-seven names without excise stamps of the Russian Federation. The driver did not present accompanying documents for the goods. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of illegally imported tobacco products is 30 million rubles,” – said the head of Smolensk customs Rustam Yakubov

The transportation of unmarked tobacco products subject to marking with special (excise) stamps is criminally liable under Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The materials were handed over by the customs to the police for further verification in accordance with the current legislation
