Customs officers using the SUR prevented smuggling of 195 thousand packs of Belarusian cigarettes, hidden inside the timber

Attempted illegal export of more than 195 thousand packs of Belarusian cigarettes hidden inside glued boards, stopped in April of 2020 the staff of the Center for operational monitoring and analysis of risks UCTR FCS of Russia jointly with the North-Western customs administration and the Baltic customs. Smuggling revealed by results of work of the risk management system.

In early April, 2020 the two companies of the North-Western region has declared the party of lumber, which were supposed to be exported to the Netherlands and the UK. Against any of the parties triggering the risk profile in fact the high probability statements of false information about goods in connection with which the decision was made to examine them.

During the inspection of containers with the use of inspection complexes customs officers revealed uncharacteristic of timber density and the degree of radiation absorption. The products were awarded the status of “under suspicion”. While unloading lumber from the containers it was found that boards represent the glued part, which is located inside of a pack of cigarettes. In the framework of further operational activities were discovered the warehouse where they had been packing illegal goods into boards.
