The head of the Ural Customs Directorate, Alexei Frolov, spoke about the transportation and logistics potential of the regions of the Ural Federal District for the development of trade between the countries. “Now three major transportation routes for international freight transportation are concentrated in the Urals, which determine and active development of customs and logistics infrastructure models. The movement of goods from Uzbekistan is carried out by transit through Kazakhstan to Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg. Today, these cities have two transport and logistics centers, which will be part of the Dry Port project. It is designed to connect the Northern Latitudinal Railway and the Trans-Siberian Railway to the Caspian Sea and the Northern Sea Route. The transport corridor will create a two-way transit of goods in the direction of India, Iran, Pakistan and other countries,” – said Alexei Frolov.
