“Holy Land” from India failed to pass customs control

Almost a kilogram of sand from India was found by employees of the Khanty-Mansiysk customs post in an international mail shipment. The recipient explained that she had sent the parcel herself to her own address when she was in India on a pilgrimage mission. In the parcel, in addition to personal items, she also sent “holy land.”

The inspection of the parcel, among souvenirs, things and jewelry was found 4 bags with loose contents weighing 860 grams. Specialists of the regional department of Rosselkhoznadzor confirmed that the contents belonged to products of high phytosanitary risk. Import of such goods into Russia is allowed only for scientific purposes by specialized organizations in a special order”, – explained the head of Khanty-Mansiysk customs post of Tyumen customs Evgeny Bogdanov
