The leadership of the Arkhangelsk customs laid flowers to the Monument of soldier-liberator

On the eve of Victory Day the management of the Arkhangelsk customs held a solemn event at the war memorial and laid flowers to the Monument of soldier-liberator.

During the war years the Arkhangelsk customs played a special role – an important task of the customs of the Northmen, was the design and adoption in the ports of Arkhangelsk and Molotovsk of goods sent under lend-lease, so necessary for the front and rear.

In the first year of the war, Arkhangelsk and Molotovsk took 7 allied convoys composed of 53 vessels. Every ship, every cargo were issued and inspected by customs officers. For the period of navigation to increase accountability for the assigned work area customs were created by the temporary customs posts in Molotovsk of six people, on the Economy of the five, Bacarese – nine employees.

The basis of the nomenclature of goods was aircraft, tanks, trucks, cars, weapons, explosives, equipment, petroleum products and food products.

Customs of the North honorably passed through all the trials and made an invaluable contribution to the great Victory.
