The FCS of Russia and Maersk carry out pilot projects in the area of transit and exchange of logistics information
The FCS of Russia and Maersk carry out pilot projects on the organization of the accelerated traffic on the route Asia – Europe and exchange of logistics information via the blockchain platform.
In the first project, the FCS interacts with Maersk for the prompt clearance of international transit transport in block trains in the direction of the “Vostochny port (Primorsky Krai) – the TRANS-Siberian railway – the port of Saint-Petersburg”. This corridor connects the ports of South Korea and Japan with ports in Northern Europe and is included in the global linear schedule Maersk code АЕ19. Its opening has allowed to reduce time of cargo delivery between Asia and Europe more than 2 times: from 42 to 45 days to 18-20 days.
July 2019-January 2020 was made five shipments in which a total of 259 were transported TEU containers.
From January 2020, the service came to a regular shipment once a month; since March 2020 it is planned to organize deliveries two times per month. Currently discussing the possibility of loading part, when it moves in the direction from Europe to Asia.
Ruslan Davydov, Deputy head of the FCS of Russia: “Such projects can significantly reduce the time of transporting containers by rail from the Far East to the Western border of Russia. It contributes to the development of the transit potential of our countries and fully meets the objectives set out in accordance with the presidential decree “On the national goals and strategic objectives development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024”.
Zsolt Katona, CEO of Maersk Eastern Europe: “the Factors of velocity and steady transit time is the most important for our overseas customers. Service АЕ19 successfully offers them, and on Asia – Europe has become an excellent alternative to transport air and ocean transport. Most high efficiency and a significant potential route through Russia showed for our clients in the field of automotive industry and electronics. From July 2019 АЕ19 included in the global network of Maersk, and thus available to owners throughout the world along with our traditional marine products. We pay great attention to this project and we hope that close coordination with Federal customs service of Russia and our Russian partners will significantly increase the attractiveness of transit through the territory of Russia for shippers in Asia and Europe.”

The second project is the Maersk and the Federal customs service on exchange of logistics information through the blockchain platform Tradelens. The launch of the first phase of the project took place on 1 March 2020.
In the course of its implementation, preliminary information about the movement of goods in automated mode in the cargo manifest is sent to the information system of the Federal customs service.
In parallel, the Ministry of transport leads the development of the Russian segment Tradelens, which at later stages will provide pair the platform with the information system of the FCS of Russia “Portal port”.
Ruslan Davydov: “the Project is designed to reduce time spent on customs clearance of goods due to the presence of extended information, allowing to identify the goods, and also through deciding on the need for actual customs control and other controls before arrival of the vessel”.
Zsolt Katona: “by Implementing this project, we build a long-term framework for interaction between participants of foreign economic activity for the exchange of logistics information. The company Maersk is a recognized leader of digitalization in the field of international trade and Maritime transport. Introducing jointly with the Federal customs service of Russia our modern technology we strive to simplify the access of companies and regulatory authorities to reliable information about the product, thereby reducing logistical, administrative and time costs on the delivery of Russian foreign trade cargoes. Thus, in particular, users Tradelens in the future will be able to track the status of the passage of cargo customs clearance, and customs authorities – to reduce the number of ineffective tests.”
Project implementation period is two months. The results of the project will be summarized in June 2020.
HELP:
Tradelens – global blockchain platform that allows online to track the data and status of transported goods, as well as providing the participants of the supply chain secure access to information about the product. The platform jointly developed by Maersk and IBM.
Platform Tradelens already covers more than 60% of the world transport of goods in containers. The data in the system comes from more than 600 ports and customs administrations in over 20 States. In Russia, a pilot project on introduction of the platform is implemented on the basis of seaport the Big port St. Petersburg.
