A motorist tried to smuggle almost 200 packs of cigarettes in a foreign car

In the course of control of vehicles at the customs post of the Adler IACP, Krasnodar customs officers together with border guards stopped a BMW 325 car, which arrived from the Republic of Abkhazia. According to the results of inspection of the car with the use of mobile inspection and examination complex (MIDC), uncharacteristic for the car’s design zones were revealed

“During further customs inspection of the car, tobacco products were found in several places,” explained Alexey Bykov, head of the customs post of the Adler MACP Adler customs office of Krasnodar customs. – Blocks with cigarettes were in the trunk among personal belongings, in the interior of the car in two travel bags. Some of the cigarettes were hidden in a cache under the acoustic shelf

Customs officers seized a total of 197 packs (3,940 pieces) of CHAPMAN cigarettes from the car, which lacked Russian excise stamps and mandatory marking devices.

The owner of the car, a 35-year-old citizen of Abkhazia, did not fill out a passenger customs declaration and did not submit it to the customs authority. During the interview, the woman explained that she knew about the existing restrictions on the import of tobacco products into Russia, so she hid cigarettes from customs control

The goods and the car were seized, 3 cases on administrative offenses were initiated. The violator faces a fine and possible confiscation of not only cigarettes as the subject of the offense, but also the vehicle in which they were transported with concealment across the border
