Astrakhan customs officers uncovered more than 6,000 units of illegally sold foreign products in three retail outlets in Volgograd

The entrepreneurs were selling cell phones, accessories, hair dryers, adapters, watches, headphones, game consoles, USB cables of various brands (made in China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines), including products with well-known trademarks. According to the businessmen, the goods were purchased in different retail outlets in Moscow, partly for cash, they did not check the documents confirming the customs declaration of goods and payment of duties

In the course of the inspection measures it was found that the goods with a customs value of more than 5 million rubles were not declared. Accordingly, customs duties and taxes were not paid upon importation into the territory of the EAEU. Some goods were recognized as counterfeit

“A person who acquired illegally imported goods for the purpose of realization bears joint and several liability with the person who illegally transported them across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union and the obligation to pay customs duties, special, anti-dumping, countervailing duties, interest and penalties. Buying goods from dubious sellers, you can also get counterfeit goods,” explains Alexander Gurin, deputy head of the Astrakhan Customs Office – head of the service of customs control after release of goods

The goods were seized. Three cases on administrative offenses under part 3 of article 16.12 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (use of goods that are illegally moved across the customs border of the EAEU, and in respect of which customs duties and taxes have not been paid) and three cases – under article 14.10 (illegal use of means of individualization of goods) were initiated against entrepreneurs
