Siberian Operational Customs initiated at once 4 criminal cases on the facts of illegal movement of timber to China.
SOT officers found that in 2018 and 2019, the attackers sent more than 4.8 thousand cubic meters of timber abroad on behalf of a front legal entity, declaring inaccurate information in the declarations. Illegal export of timber was carried out from several Siberian regions – Krasnoyarsk Krai, Omsk and Irkutsk regions. The total value of strategic resources is estimated at more than 31.6 million rubles. The investigation continues, the composition of all persons involved in the crime is being established.
It should be noted that since the beginning of 2023 law enforcement officers of the STU have initiated 110 criminal cases on timber smuggling. The greatest number of crimes in the sphere of timber export this year revealed operatives of Altai (22) and Irkutsk (21) customs.
