8 kg of seafood and 8 kg of edible tubers tried to smuggle to Irkutsk passengers of one flight

Officers of Irkutsk customs during customs control of an international flight from Hanoi (Vietnam) to Irkutsk revealed about 8 kilograms of raw seafood in a passenger’s luggage.

A Vietnamese national attempted to carry about 8 kilograms of raw seafood in his luggage

A Vietnamese citizen tried to import raw eel meat and other  seafood packed in plastic bags into Russia. The foreigner did not have any documents for the exotic goods. The citizen explained that the seafood was intended for his personal use

It should be noted that on the same international flight, Irkutsk customs officers found more than 8 kg of edible tubers (topinambur, yams) and various seeds in the luggage of another passenger

In accordance with the legislation, import of raw animal products and goods subject to phytosanitary control of origin without a phytosanitary certificate of the country of origin is prohibited by individuals into the territory of the EAEU. On the fact of non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions Irkutsk Customs initiated cases on administrative offenses under Article 16.3 of the CAO RF, the violators were punished with administrative fines

The goods were seized by the Rosselkhoznadzor Department for the Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia
