More than 2.5 tons of smuggled tobacco products has revealed the Novorossiysk customs

Employees of operational search Department of the Novorossiysk customs together with employees of the Main Department for combating smuggling of the FCS of Russia and Service in Novorossiysk UFSB of Russia across Krasnodar Krai in conducting operational search activities identified and suppressed the fact of illicit export from the customs territory of the EAEU of more than 2.5 tons of tobacco products.

In late February 2020, in the customs control zone of LLC “Container terminal “NUTEP” for registration for export was placed in the container with the product “abrasive mix.” The Russian firm sent to Romania 1008 cardboard buckets with the product.

– As a result of customs control established in 756 buckets under a thin layer of abrasive compound hidden the cigarettes manufactured in the Republic of Belarus, told about the circumstances of the detection of smuggled goods, the Deputy head of Novorossiysk customs Dimitri Belanov. – The total amount concealed from customs control tobacco products amounted to 10 577 588,5 blocks weighing 2 kg.

According to experts, the total value of seized tobacco products amounted to more than 7.1 million.

On this fact the Novorossiysk customs office opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 200.2 of the Criminal code (smuggling of tobacco products in the large size) which provides punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term up to 5 years.
