Smolensk customs officers found 700 kilograms of marine delicacies in a lorry with furniture

A mobile group of Smolensk customs found almost 700 kilograms of sea delicacies after stopping a lorry near the village of Krasnaya Gorka

They were illegally imported from the territory of Belarus, but the country of origin was not identified

The goods were hidden in the cargo compartment of the truck among office furniture, which, according to the documents, was being transported to Moscow

Customs officers found 637 kilograms of oysters, 16 kilograms of lobsters and 23 kilograms of herring in wooden crates and foam thermo boxes among the declared goods.

There were no accompanying documents, including a veterinary certificate for them.

A criminal case has been opened against the driver under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important resources). He faces a fine of up to 1 million rubles, or compulsory labor for up to 5 years, or imprisonment for the same period of time.
