Smolensk customs in 2023 revealed violations of currency legislation amounting to more than one billion rubles

In 2023, Smolensk Customs conducted 83 inspections of foreign trade participants’ compliance with the currency legislation of the Russian Federation.

According to the results of the inspections, 196 cases were initiated under Article 15.25 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia for a total amount of 1.14 billion rubles

The materials of 26 inspections with indications of crimes under Articles 193, 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, for a total amount of 352.1 million rubles, were sent to law enforcement departments of the customs for additional verification measures. Based on their results, 10 reports of crimes under Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation were registered, and 4 criminal cases were initiated under Article 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for the transfer of funds in foreign currency to the bank accounts of non-residents using false documents. The amount of money related to the violation of currency legislation in the criminal cases initiated amounted to 159.4 million rubles
