In Bashkortostan, the customs officers revealed the fact of smuggling large diamond

Employees of the Bashkortostan customs in the course of operational-search activities revealed the fact of illegal import to the territory of Russia diamond weight of 2.27 carats, worth over one million rubles, which is included in the list of strategically important goods and resources.

Precious stone inhabitant of Ufa bought in Amsterdam for further sale in Russia. The diamond has a GIA certificate (Gemological Institute of America) identification number. However, despite the legal origin of the mineral and its acquisition, with the importation of stone was not declared.

In respect of residents of the Bashkortostan customs has opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code (on illegal entry into the territory of the Russian Federation of strategically important goods).
