The illegal importation of nearly 600 packs of cigarettes into Russia has been stopped

A BMW 5201 automobile driven by a citizen of Abkhazia born in 1992 arrived at the automobile component of the customs post of the Krasnodar customs office Adler. During the interview, the driver stated that there were no goods subject to mandatory declaration, prohibited or restricted for movement across the EAEU border. The suspicious foreign car was sent for inspection with the use of MIDC. The results of the inspection revealed the probability of foreign attachments in the car

“In the course of customs inspection in the car was found tobacco products, hidden from customs control,” explained Alexei Bykov, head of the customs post MAPP Adler of Krasnodar Customs. – In the salon under the rear passenger seat were identified two hatches designed for factory gasoline pumps, which were dismantled for the transportation of tobacco products. After opening the hatch covers, 590 packs (11,800 pieces) of MORION CRYSTAL GOLD SLIMS brand cigarettes without excise stamps were recovered from the cache.”

According to the driver, the tobacco product was found in the passenger compartment under the rear passenger seat

The driver explained that he purchased the cigarettes in Abkhazia and transported them to an acquaintance for a cash reward. Recently, for the illegal transportation of tobacco products violators use, including expensive foreign cars, not only old cars of domestic production, hoping to cross the border without suspicion. In case of detection of goods with concealment from customs control by court decision, measures are taken to confiscate not only the goods, but also the vehicle as an instrument of offense. In this case, as practice shows, the economic effect from the loss of the vehicle is several times greater than the value of the goods and the planned earnings from its illegal movement

The tobacco products and the car used for their illegal transportation were seized. Cases on administrative offenses under part 2 of article 16.1 and article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation have been instituted.
