At Volgograd airport, customs officers foiled an attempt to import 3.8 kilograms of hookah tobacco from Turkey. While passing through customs control, inspectors found 19 packs of smoking mixture in the hand luggage of a Palestinian citizen. In his explanation, the 40-year-old man emphasized that he bought tobacco produced in Egypt, UAE, Jordan in duty-free in Istanbul exclusively for himself, as he is a fan of aromatic smoke. He did not specify the customs rules for the tobacco purchase

The tobacco was seized. Two administrative cases were initiated against the air passenger on the fact of non-declaration of goods under part 1 of article 16.2 of the CAO RF and violation of prohibitions and restrictions under article 16.3 of the CAO RF. He faces a fine and confiscation of goods

“We recommend that air passengers familiarize themselves with customs legislation on the website of the Federal Customs Service of Russia. According to the current norms of importation into Russia, one adult passenger has the right to move 200 cigarettes, or 50 cigars (cigarillos), or 200 products with heated tobacco (“sticks”), or 250 g of tobacco, or products in the assortment with a total weight of not more than 250 g,” explains the head of the customs post Volgograd Airport of Astrakhan customs Sergey Legkodimov
